• GRADING POLICY

    Band is a subject that is averaged into your overall grade. Attendance and preparedness are the most crucial aspects to succeeding in this program—which I know you are all capable of! Here is how you will be graded:

    -Lesson Grade: 30% of quarterly average.

    • Amount of lessons will be determined by quarter (usually 7-8). Lessons will take place in a small group setting, organized by instrumentation. 

    • 10pts required materials, 10pts technical assignment, 10 pts band music.

    -Class Participation: 25% of overall band average. 

    • 2 pts. for having their instrument, music folder, and pencil.

    -Concert/Performances: 25% of overall band average

    • Students will reflect on their performances and give constructive criticism as to what they did well and they can improve on.

    -Playing Tests/ Part Checks/ Written Tests: 20% of overall band average

    • Each quarter students will be graded on band music or musical techniques that have been studied over the course of that quarter. This will take place both as online assessments and in-class assessments. 

    • Students will be assigned additional listening assignments that will aid in our ensemble development over the course of the school year.
