For rehearsals, students are expected to:
*ARRIVE ON TIME with all materials: Instrument, Music Folder, and Pencil.
-Rehearsal starts 3 minutes after the bell; meaning students need to be in their seats ready to play. Use the restroom before coming to band.
*BE FOCUSED, COURTEOUS, AND PROACTIVE during rehearsal. Band rehearsal is the time when the entire group practices their music together. More progress will be made if all students are engaged and respectful to their fellow ensemble members.
*ALWAYS GIVE YOUR BEST! Everyone experiences music differently- what comes naturally to one person might be a little more work for another. Always try your best, ask questions, and withhold any comments or actions that may negatively impact your success as well as the success of others. We are all in this together.
*KNOW YOUR MUSIC. Band rehearsal is a practice session for the band meaning that your individual part should be worked on as homework. Trouble spots or questions should be addressed during your lesson time, before or after school, or during lunch. Come talk to me if you are having trouble—it’s what I am here for! Asking your other members of your section is also encouraged.
Each instrument group has a specific place in the band room to leave your instrument. All lockers are clearly labeled numerically, and students will be assigned a locker to keep their belongings. Music folders should be kept in your locker and brought with you to band and lessons. Extra copies of music are kept in an organized bin labeled concert band/ jazz ensemble. Please let me know if more copies are needed.
