Course Policy
Creative Crafts is a year-long course (1.0) that focuses on the Creative Arts. The Elements and Principles of Art and Design will guide students as they create a variety of functional and decorative projects. Basic concepts in drawing, painting, sculpture and college will begin the school year. Students will build upon their knowledge and apply skills to a variety of crafts, including paper arts, fiber arts, a variety of sculpture and ceramic clay. Throughout the course, students will work through color theory, perspective and learn about a variety of artistic and cultural influences.
Students who enroll in this class should expect to work toward creatively building upon the skills previously learned in their art education experience. Students will be expected to recognize and improve their personal artistic skills and strive to enhance their ability to create art in meaningful ways. The focus of this class is not on drawing technique, although drawing is a part of the art class and certain skills and techniques will be introduced.
Any student who truly enjoys drawing and would like to continue to develop their artistic skills in drawing and painting techniques should be encouraged to enroll in Studio Art.
