    Our goal is to promote and protect the health and wellness of all students, staff, and families within our school community. This page provides important information about school health guidelines, available services, New York State requirements, and general health and safety resources.

    Required Health Examinations

    Per New York State law, a physical exam is required for:

    • All new students entering the district

    • Students entering grades K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11

    Examinations must be performed by a New York State-licensed physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner.

    Need a Physical?

    If your child needs a physical exam for sports clearance or to meet state requirements for grades 9 or 11, you can schedule an appointment with the school’s nurse practitioner by:

    • Call the Health Office at 845-534-8009, ext. 5010, or

    • Having your child stop by the Health Office to make an appointment in person

    Medications in school

    • Friendly Reminder:
      If your child needs to take any medication at school — including over-the-counter items like Tylenol, Advil, or Tums — a new doctor’s order, signed by their physician, must be submitted at the start of each school year.

      For everyone's safety, students are not allowed to carry medication during the school day. The only exceptions are EpiPens and inhalers, which may be kept with the student if a doctor’s order is on file. This documentation must also be renewed at the beginning of each school year.

Healthy Reminders

  • Help Prevent the Spread of Illness

    To keep yourself and others healthy, please follow these important hygiene practices:

    • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

    • If soap and water are not available, use a hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol.

    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

    • Stay home if you are feeling unwell or showing signs of illness.

    • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow when coughing or sneezing.

      • Dispose of tissues in the trash immediately.

    • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces regularly.
