Mrs. Horne is our 7th and 8th grade chorus and Select Chorus director.  Along with the singing she does with our musicians, she opens students up to the appreciation of music with her 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade General Music Classes.

Mrs. Horne has taught all age groups in public education and in the private sector.  Different from elementary and high school students, middle schoolers are a delicate balance of innocence and precocious curiosity.  Humor and consistency are classroom management tools that allow Mrs. Horne's general music and chorus students to learn boundaries and skills in communication and music making.  

One of the gifts brought to our school by Mrs. Horne is her passion for performance as she leads our Select Chorus (audition only, Grades 6-8) and Drama Club (Grades 5-8).  She believes that children who take safe risks through stage performance are more likely to make smart choices for excitement throughout their lives. 

A graduate of The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, Mrs. Horne began her career as a teacher in Brooklyn, NY where she learned that meeting students where they are in life and their understanding of music brings a greater connection to the content being taught and, in the long run, a deeper appreciation for music throughout a person's life.  Mrs. Horne grew up in a home with teachers; her father is a college professor and her mother specialized in early education, owning and running her own preschool which over-prepared children for kindergarten and beyond.  Mrs. Horne's entire family love and support the performing arts, which is why she can participate in so much with the CCMS Music Department and Drama Club.  And she adores her doggo Charlie.
